YouGov finds Turek and Hinson a point apart in Iowa, and our estimate holds at 56%
The latest survey of the open Iowa Senate race leaves our model's average margin and its odds where they stood before the poll arrived.

A YouGov survey of 2,245 likely voters, fielded October 6-12, has Democrat Josh Turek at 47% and Republican Ashley Hinson at 46% in the race for Iowa's open Senate seat, now held by Republican Joni Ernst. A one-point gap is a close race, not a lead.
The poll did not move our forecast. Our model gives Turek a 56 in 100 chance of winning the seat and Hinson 44%, the same figures as our previous run earlier today. Our average margin stays at D+0.8. The range of plausible outcomes barely shifted: our model's 5th-to-95th percentile band now runs from R+7.9 to D+9.4, against R+7.8 to D+9.5 before.
That stability fits the poll. A near-even result in a race our model already scores as close to even adds confidence in the average without pulling it in either direction. The width of that band is the more telling number. With 20 days to the election, our model treats outcomes several points either way as well within reach.
Iowa matters for the national picture. Our model gives Democrats a 62% chance of winning Senate control and Republicans 37%, with Democrats averaging 51.1 seats in our simulations. Democrats need 51 seats for control. Republicans need 50, because the vice president is a Republican and a 50-50 tie goes to them. A seat our model rates this close is one of the places that margin gets settled.
