Poll reaction KY-6

April polls in KY-6 land close, and our estimate widens toward Alvarado

Three Public Policy Polling matchups from the spring show a near-tie, but our model's mean margin has moved about five points toward the Republican.

Three matchups from a Public Policy Polling survey of 675 registered voters in Kentucky's 6th District, fielded April 24-25, 2026, all came in close. Republican Ralph Alvarado and Democrat Zach Dembo tied at 37 percent in the head-to-head. Alvarado took 37 percent to 36 percent for an unnamed Democrat in a second version. In a third, Dembo took 38 percent to 33 percent for an unnamed Republican. The payload carries no margin of error for these numbers, and gaps of a point are too small to treat as a lead.

Our forecast does not read the district that way. Our model now puts the mean margin at R+17.9, with a 5th-to-95th percentile range running from R+34.3 to R+1.6, and gives Dembo a 4 in 100 chance of winning the seat. That is a move toward Alvarado from our previous run, 25 minutes earlier the same afternoon, which had the mean margin at R+13.1 and Dembo's chance at 9 percent. The April surveys are the oldest polling in this file, and they did not pull our estimate toward the Democrat.

They also pre-date the survey this site wrote about earlier today: a Lake Research Partners poll for House Majority PAC of likely voters, fielded August 17-23, 2026, which had Dembo at 45 percent and Alvarado at 44 percent. That remains the most recent look at the race in the payload.

Nationally, our average of 28 generic-ballot polls over the past 45 days stands at D+6.5. Our model gives Democrats a 93 percent chance of winning at least the 218 seats needed for a House majority, with a mean of 240.1 seats. One caveat is ours to own: our simulation correlates error nationally, by census division, by state and by district, but we have no cluster data to correlate demographically similar districts across the map, so that House figure is marginally firmer than a fuller model would make it.
